Y's for Men - Yohji Yamamoto Collection: Archive (1990s-2000s) Item number: MX-P17-003 Tag Size: 3 Composition: 50% linen, 50% cotton Made in Japan. These men's Y's pants feature a double waist, suspender buttons, large pocket cover flaps with oversize buttons, two large back pockets, double knee panels that have an inset fabric panel (not cut outs, no leg is visible), and an adjustable silhouette by using the three buttons on the bottom of each leg to create the desired shape, from wide leg to tapered. They manage to incorporate design elements and features that have also appeared across the Pour Homme line giving them a fantastic silhouette and quintessential Yohji style. They can be styled wide with the hem buttons opened and rolled up, and with the side pockets unbuttoned to create new structural shapes by the waist. Or buttoned down to make them a wide but tapered pant. These pants use the less common Y's brown label for men's clothing, and can be distinguished from women's Y's pants not only by the label, cut, and sizing but by the item number which begins with an "M" for mens (vs. "Y" for women's). Y's was Yohji's only mainline label for years, and Y's for Men was Yohji Yamamoto's first and original menswear line which ran from 1979 to 2009. He created it based on the idea of clothing for men that would complement his Y's line for women thereby "enabling a man to look his best when standing next to her." The Y's for Men line has always been inspired by Yohji's personal wardrobe. In 2023 the Y's for Men line returned after 13 years and is now a current line again. Offers welcome.
