Met Gala Series: Poiret: King of Fashion

If you know me, then you know the Met Gala is my Super Bowl😌✨ So in honor of leading up to it, I wanted to create Streetwear & contemporary looks to represent the last 20 years of Met Gala themes (2006–2025). I have a quick description of what each celebrated + the red carpet vibe. I hope you enjoy this series & would love to hear what Met Gala themes were your favorites!🖤✨ 2007 — Poiret: King of Fashion Honored designer Paul Poiret. Vibe: exoticism, draping, early modern couture. As i was looking at some of Paul Poiret designs, I can tell why they labeled him the King of Fashion. His designs feel like the blueprint for couture and the inspiration to pieces still today. I really loved this luxurious beaded harem pants look that had these overlays to replicate his signature “lampshade dress”. I was inspired to create this look. I found these great metallic harem pants from Armani and then found this great fuller micro skirt that reminder me of a lampshade. The jewelry and head piece are Gatsby inspired as i felt they were appropriate for his styling. The bag was hard because i was going to do the feathered Marlene from Dolce and Gabbana but then felt this Chanel Boy bag was a more modern fit.
