Zazou emerged in early 1940s France as a visual weapon used by young people to resist Nazi oppression and austerity policies. This group of "swing youth," heavily influenced by American jazz and British Danishism, waged a silent protest against "aesthetic waste" through provocative and exaggerated tailoring—oversized suits, brightly colored socks, and platform shoes. In this piece, I recreated Zazou's dress code at the time using a Supreme suit jacket, CDG trousers, and Martin Rose Clarks shoes, while adding accessories such as a Gallery Dept. baseball cap and Kuboraum avant-garde sunglasses to give it a more contemporary feel. #hypebeast #subculture2026
