Met Gala Series: Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy

If you know me, then you know the Met Gala is my Super Bowl😌✨ So in honor of leading up to it, I wanted to create Streetwear & contemporary looks to represent the last 20 years of Met Gala themes (2006–2025). I have a quick description of what each celebrated + the red carpet vibe. I hope you enjoy this series & would love to hear what Met Gala themes were your favorites!🖤✨ 2008 — Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy Explored superhero imagery in fashion. Vibe: capes, latex, power dressing, fantasy armor. I loved this one! And honestly, i might have to make this into my next series. The theme is really fun and reminded me of Zendaya’s looks for the Spider Man premiere. Her and stylist Law Roach curated each look to give a nod to Spider Man and the movie. Looking at the carpet for this Gala, i feel like there were a lot of misses, if this was a theme today I feel like we would get so many gorgeous looks. But I digress! For this look i wanted to give nods to different super hero elements. The long float sleeves are to represent a cape. The latex corset gives a nod to the latex suits we often see for hero and villains, as well as the long gloves. The jeans and heels kinda remind me of comic books when they give action cues (POW). Then the gold hardware and overall stars incorporated felt very heroism for the good guys.
