Met Gala Series: Savage Beauty

If you know me, then you know the Met Gala is my Super Bowl😌✨ So in honor of leading up to it, I wanted to create Streetwear & contemporary looks to represent the last 20 years of Met Gala themes (2006–2025). I have a quick description of what each celebrated + the red carpet vibe. I hope you enjoy this series & would love to hear what Met Gala themes were your favorites!🖤✨ 2011 — Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty Honored Alexander McQueen. Vibe: dark romance, theatrical couture, haunting beauty. This is one of my favorite Met Galas and exhibit. I went to the Met for it and have been inspired ever since. Alexander McQueen was such a visionary and I’m so saddened that he left us so soon. This one is for you Lee🖤 I went with 2 different looks because I really wanted a full head to toe McQueen look (top left) and then a look with other designer pieces that have an inspired by McQueen feel (bottom left) still incorporating his own pieces. For the full McQueen look, this is quintessential McQueen. This is a girl going on a romantic date night but she needs to bring the drama with her look. I love how the brocade on the dress resembles a skeleton. The long coat has a jeweled lapel trim, perfectly fitting. The heels are shaped as his famous Armadillo shoes and then the clutch adds elegance and drama with the knuckle handle. For the 2nd look, i saw this Butterfly dress from Jean Paul Gaultier and it just felt very McQueen to me. Alexander McQueen created this gorgeous butterfly dress that was just breathtaking and this kinda felt like a casual inspiration of it. I paired the dress with the Manta Bag and added a bag charm of the Armadillo shoe. This is a girl going out with friends, no plan but they are together and will figure something out. I added this shearling peplum jacket and Punk black heels, then of course i had to complete the look with the silk skull scarf (either placed in her hair or tied around her bags handle).
