Made in Kentucky, this second generation (Mark 2) of our bestselling 5-Pocket is a further refinement of a Best Made classic. Since we launched it in 2014, the 5-Pocket has been engineered for comfort, mobility and longevity. We've maintained the exact fit that defined previous generations: a classic straight leg with a medium rise that sits comfortably at the waist. Working closely with our technical designers, we further improved the fit through minor adjustments. We also applied a garment rinse for out-of-the-box comfort, and brought back the same canvas from the first generation: a heavyweight 12-ounce cotton that will soften and conform while holding its shape. Inseams on the 5-Pocket are triple-needle stitched, and it's bartack reinforced throughout. Available in undyed and two new colors: khaki and field brown—all of them destined to develop their own patina and character. Product Details Attention to detail distinguishes these pants: full-felled inseams, yoke, and back rise provide exceptional durability, while seam-busted side seams lie perfectly flat for unmatched comfort. The back pocket features meticulous hand-stitching—no automated equipment—executed by highly skilled sewers in South Central Kentucky. Zippers are YKK, the branded Best Made shanks are alloy, and the back patch is a rough-out leather. Our 12-ounce canvas marks a significant evolution in the 5-Pocket tradition. Pre-shrunk, this robust fabric delivers durability without stiffness. Canvas's plain weave construction creates a denser, more tightly packed surface than denim's diagonal twill pattern, resulting in superior abrasion resistance. The uniform thread distribution prevents snags and wear-through that commonly afflict denim twill fabrics, particularly at contact points. Triple needle inseams and bartack reinforcements ensure longevity at stress points, while the cotton weave develops character over time. Unlike raw denim, this canvas offers immediate comfort without sacrificing durability. We chose a non-stretch canvas for a good reason. Our favorite garments—be it a rough and tumble chore jacket or a finely tailored suit—are defined by careful design and construction, not artificial elasticity. Without elastane or spandex, our pants maintain their shape where stretch fabrics will ultimately sag.
