It features woven labels from KOSHO & CO., the predecessor of Toyo Enterprise, and Buzz Rickson, making this a truly dream-worthy collaboration between two iconic names. - The aircraft carrier USS Lexington was commissioned in 1943 and saw service in the Pacific during World War II. After being temporarily decommissioned following the war, she underwent a major modernization in the early 1950s and returned to service as an attack carrier. In 1962, she was redesignated as an anti-submarine warfare carrier, with her primary mission focused on submarine operations. From June through December 1956, Lexington was deployed to the Western Pacific for six months as part of the U.S. Seventh Fleet, operating with Air Task Group. - The original jacket that inspired this reproduction was specially ordered by a U.S. serviceman at an embroidery shop when the Lexington made a port call at Yokosuka during this Far East cruise. The embroidery on the front, featuring the names “Marty,” “Redmond,” and “Oregon,” suggests that the serviceman who ordered the jacket, Marty, was from the Redmond area of Oregon. The meaning behind the king vulture, eight ball, and shovel embroidered across the back remains unknown. Their significance was known only to the original owner, leaving the design shrouded in mystery.
