설명

- This Type A-2 leather jacket with patches is reproduced by "Buzz Rickson's", based on vintage jackets. The Cold Weather Testing Detachment, established in 1940 at Ladd Field Air Force Base in Alaska, was organized to test military aircraft to ensure proper functioning in extreme cold environments. Since its inception, advancements and research outcomes from testing and operations in cold regions have been reflected in aircraft design, leading to improvements in planes used across various theaters during World War II. When the war began, the unit's mission expanded to serve as a relay point within the Alaska Air Command and as a handover point for Lend-Lease aircraft. Buzz Rickson's acquired an A-2 jacket bearing the leather patch of this Cold Weather Testing Detachment. As indicated by the gold-stamped nameplate, the wearer was C.W.Rockabrand. Remarkably, the jacket comes with several photographs reflecting his military life, and even a tag from Bell Aircraft, maker of the P-63 Kingcobra he piloted, which was awarded the "E Pennant". The E Pennant was a recognition system instituted by the military to boost morale in defense contractors by honoring outstanding companies. Photographs also show C.W.Rockabrand wearing a B-3 during his Alaska duty, but on days without snow or mild cold, he wore the A-2, illustrating the soldiers' deep affection for the A-2 at the time. - Material: Bronco hide - Lining: 100% Cotton Broad Cloth - Knit Parts:100% Wool - Tanning: Vegetable - Finish: Pigment - Fastener: Talon Mil Specs Nickel Finished - Neck Hook: Solid Brass Chrome Finished - Snap Button: Brass Oxidized Black Ring Stud Type - Label: Buzz Rickson Mfg.
