Description

A superb, basic winter jacket with a "no-frills" , rugged aesthetic. The N-1 has a rich history, with a lineage dating back to the 2nd World War. The N-1 uniform was produced for a relatively brief period, with the first contracts awarded in January 1943, and the final ones completed in December 1945. The "Winter Jacket" component is seen here. Made with a wind and shower-resistant 100% cotton Olive Drab Bedford Cord fabric shell, fully lined with a thick alpaca fur pile. The grandfather of deck jackets, this design set the foundations for future evolutions such as the N-4 and A-2 jackets. By looking at the final three digits of the contract number on the label, we have been able to identify that this jacket was manufactured by the "Berk Ray Corp." based in Troy, New York. The contract was awarded in January 1945 and was completed in June of the same year. The label originally displayed the full contract number "NXSX 73734'' Labelled size 38, it will comfortably fit a modern size small with a 38"-40" chest.
