Description

Guerrero_sto General Research 1996 OG sneakers Before creating General Research (GR) in 1993, Setsumasa Kobayashi was a shoe maker. He grew up in a shoe factory owned by his father, which allowed him to learn the trade. Following his graduation from high school, Kobayashi sought experience in a shoe factory in Italy, where he honed his craft. He then became interested in fashion, which is the reason he created GR. Before the creation of the famed brand, he created his own line of shoes, simply named "Sett". The brand often had "collaborations" with GR and later Mountain Research. It is also due to the Sett footwear offerings that GR barely features any shoes along with their take on the AF1 and high top sneakers. The initial years of GR, however, featured more footwear than the later years, as the general aesthetic of the brand was not as grounded. The 1994-1996 collections featured many footwear that were not as prominent in later collections, such as the "punk" derbies and early AF1 iterations, like the shoes presented here. These are an early version of what would later become an iconic GR shoe, the AF1. This model however features a stiff leather construction and a crepe sole, which is very different from the later AF1 models despite having similar construction. These shoes were also featured in black suede for their 95 collection. Size: M fits between 8-9 Condition: 7/10 used but plenty of life left Check out my items for more CDG, GR, Rick Owens, Kapital and more!
