Arguably the finest Americana reproduction brand from Japan, the Real McCoy's painstakingly recreate and update original garments for the modern day offering the best from the past, replicated to perfection without compromise in Japan. The Jacket, Linecrewman, Identifying, Type G-1 was a high-visibility nylon jacket used by U.S.A.F ground crews in the early 1950's. Featuring bold colours and a checkerboard pattern, it was worn over standard uniforms to help pilots spot ground personnel during aircraft operations. Through careful study of vintage examples, The Real McCoy's have determined that the original colour of this iconic jacket was a vibrant orange, not the commonly seen faded yellow & black. Sun exposure and ageing altered the hue of original pieces over time and this version faithfully restores the jacket’s true, original colour. The McCoy's version is based on the original J-6249 and faithfully recreates key period details. Cut from 100% nylon in Japan, the jacket features a 50's-style oxidised oval zipper with cotton tape, running down the front and across the functional left sleeve pocket (originally intended for cigarettes and pencils).
