Met Gala Series: In America (part 2)
If you know me, then you know the Met Gala is my Super Bowl😌✨ So in honor of leading up to it, I wanted to create Streetwear & contemporary looks to represent the last 20 years of Met Gala themes (2006–2025). I have a quick description of what each celebrated + the red carpet vibe. I hope you enjoy this series & would love to hear what Met Gala themes were your favorites!🖤✨
2022 — In America: An Anthology of Fashion
Highlighted overlooked designers and stories in early American fashion history.
Dress code: “Gilded Glamour.”
Vibe: corsetry, bustles, opulence, old-money extravagance.
I leaned more into the dress code for this one. I wanted to do an elevated look. I chose this gold corset to give a reference to the corsetry in the exhibition. Then this gorgeous cape from Jenny Packham really fit the gilded glamour vibes, it’s like she’s dripping gold. For the bottoms, I found these jeans from Rick Owens that reminded me of Blake Lively’s dress from the carpet. Love her or hate her, you have to admit, she knows how to do a Met Gala. To complete the look i added some gold jewelry, boots, and this amazing box tote from Dolce and Gabbana. The design reminded me of the embroidery on one of the shawls that was on display in the exhibit.
