Met Gala Series: Manus x Machina

If you know me, then you know the Met Gala is my Super Bowl😌✨ So in honor of leading up to it, I wanted to create Streetwear & contemporary looks to represent the last 20 years of Met Gala themes (2006–2025). I have a quick description of what each celebrated + the red carpet vibe. I hope you enjoy this series & would love to hear what Met Gala themes were your favorites!🖤✨ 2016 — Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology Explored handmade vs. machine-made couture. Vibe: metallics, armor energy, futuristic glam. I remember the carpet for this theme. Everyone really got into it, which i always appreciate. For this look, i really wanted Streetwear. I thought these jeans from Y/Project were so cool and paired it with a traditional belt from Johanna Ortiz for a double belt look. The rest of the look i tried to choose pieces with cool construction or some of the machine driven design capabilities that were part of the exhibition. So i found this 3D tulle appliqué top and topped a chain harness to it for some cool machine like aesthetic. I topped that with a laser cut denim jacket from Alice+Olivia. Then the jewelry were either sculptural or had a nod to tools (nails, bolts, etc.). These Nike sneakers give off this half man half metal vibe that i think fit perfectly. Last, i remember this woman who would always walk around with 2 bags everyday so i decided to incorporate that into this look! The constructor of Issey Miyake bags is so distinct and structurally cool and then this small clutch from Oscar de la Renta is 3D printed which ties into everything perfectly. #manusxmachina #metgala #streetwear #givenchy #givcutsunglasses #isseymiyake #baobao #aliceandolivia #lasercut #yproject #elisabettafranchi #johannaortiz #3D #applique #oscardelarenta #3dprinted #earcuff #panconesi #viviennewestwood #vetements #davidwebb #noirkeininomiya #saintlaurent #nike #ferrari
