Met Gala Series: About Time

If you know me, then you know the Met Gala is my Super Bowl๐Ÿ˜Œโœจ So in honor of leading up to it, I wanted to create Streetwear & contemporary looks to represent the last 20 years of Met Gala themes (2006โ€“2025). I have a quick description of what each celebrated + the red carpet vibe. I hope you enjoy this series & would love to hear what Met Gala themes were your favorites!๐Ÿ–คโœจ 2020 โ€” About Time: Fashion and Duration Examined fashion across 150 years in a nonlinear timeline. (Event canceled due to COVID, exhibition still happened.) Vibe: historical reinterpretations, timeless silhouettes. So you may not remember this one, because the actual event was canceled due to Covid. But the exhibition still went on and so I did want to include it. This one i mainly looked at the pieces that were on display for it. They all stayed mainly in the monochromatic black color scheme but there were a few pieces with a white monochromatic scheme so i wanted to marry the two. Each piece gives a nod to a specific timeframe or a technic. I really wanted the look to teether on historical style vs modern style. I did this amazing jacket from Alexander McQueen, paired with a modern mini skirt with draped detail. I added some jewels as it felt necessary to bring more texture and shapes to the look. Overall, the exhibit felt like 2020, it was nice to look through the style evolution but also just felt bleak. Let me know what you think! #abouttime #metgala #blackandwhite #monochrome #alexandermcqueen #repossi #pomellato #yvonneleone #jacquemus #theattico #fionaheel #collinastrada #selfpotrait #lace #draping #rickowens #drkshdw #blumarine
