Description

Workshop, Y's for Men - Yohji Yamamoto Collection: Archive (1980s) Composition: Rayon (100%) Made in Japan. This black rayon shirt with embroidered pin dots (aka Swiss dots) comes from Yohji Yamamoto's early Y's for Men Workshop line, likely from the early 1980s. It's in excellent used condition, with all buttons intact, including the original extra button on the care tag. It can be identified and dated by the style of Workshop label and the material tag which says "(株)ワイズ・フォーメン" (Y's for Men Co, Ltd). In excellent shape with only a few threads and no structural issues (see macro photos). Approximate Measurements: • Chest: 22 ¼” (56.5 cm) • Length: 30 ½” (77.5 cm) • Shoulders: 19 ¼” (49 cm) • Sleeve Length: 20 ⅛” (51 cm) • Hem: 20 ½” (52 cm) Note: The bottom hem appears asymmetrical in some photos due to being freshly unfolded. Some images have enhanced exposure to highlight the design. Workshop was one of the earliest of Yohji Yamamoto's lines launched in the 1980s from the early Y's for Men line. Workshop pieces are quite rare and collected by those with a niche interest in historical work by Yohji. Y's for Men was Yohji Yamamoto's first and original menswear line which ran from 1979 to 2009. He created it based on the idea of clothing for men that would complement his Y's line for women thereby "enabling a man to look his best when standing next to her." The Y's for Men line has always been inspired by Yohji's personal wardrobe. In 2023 the Y's for Men line returned after a 13 year break, and is now a current line again with new collections. Offers welcome. Please ask all questions before buying. Items are as pictured and described. Shipping from British Columbia, Canada. Final sale, no returns.
